Paget Primary School, Paget Road, Pype Hayes, Birmingham

Year 4

Welcome to Year 4, where we learn lots and have some fun too.

Learning is promoted through the use of hands-on, experience based learning, which both the children and the teaching team enjoy. The children are also encouraged to become independent learners who think for themselves and take an active role in their learning. We set high expectations within all aspects of classroom and school life to ensure they maximize their experience whilst at school.

We are very excited about the learning opportunities taking place in Year 4. Our next topic is ‘North and South America. During the topic lots of fun and exciting learning will certainly take place! This topic will involve looking at the geography of both localities, artists from South America, native dishes, animals, customs and celebrations. We will begin to understand what causes volcanoes and earthquakes, where they are located and how they can change the areas they are located in. We will also celebrate important days such as Remembrance Day and Bonfire Night and Diwali, as part of the Paget Curriculum Guarantee. Further to our exciting curriculum, the children are lucky enough to be given whole class cornet and violin tuition delivered by the Birmingham Music Service. The modern foreign language we will be studying in Year 4 is Spanish.

The teaching team is Miss Benjamin-Harris (Class Teacher), Miss Steer (Teaching Assistant), Mrs Moseley (Class Teacher) and Mr Corbett (Teaching Assistant).
